On our last day in Linköping we visited Lassemajas Deckarhus. We didn't know that the attraction was in Gamla Linköping when we went there, but saw the house when we went up the street. Since Chiara and Marcus are reading these books, we pf course decided to go in to find out that it was an adventure that should take around 2 hours. Luckily enough there were time slots left for the day after, so we had a change to go there.
The attraction was divided into three main adventures —The Camping Mystery, The Train Mystery, and The Castle Mystery —and Chiara chose the Castle Mystery. The adventure consisted of seven chapters and combined digital challenges with hands-on physical tasks. Altogether it was a very good experience with nice tasks, especially the hands-on physical tasks. The bad side was that the solution to the mystery wasn't very logical, and we think that it didn't matter which one you choose to be the guilty one. This probably because they wanted that every child could get the feeling of succeed in the mission.

On 18 May the International Museum Day took place and we took the opportunity to visit The Cultural History Museum of Åland that had open doors. It was quite a long time since Marcus and I have vistied to museum, and Chiara had never been there so we thought it would be nice.
We timed it with the family guidning, but that unfortunately didn't suit Chiara so good, so we only listen to that for a while, otherwise we mostly strolled around, and did the specific activities they had for children. You could do a special magnetic maze, build a lighthouse, play Connect Four and work in a small grocery shop. But the most fun is to find the mascot Kluris, who is placed at different places in the museum. Afterwards, I also learned that children (and probably adults as well) could listen to audio tracks that guide visitors through history. Unfortunately, we were not aware of this when we visited the museum, and the staff did not inform us about it either. To round off the visit, the children could build a jumping-jack figure depicting Kluris. Overall, Åland Museum is a very nice, although fairly small, museum. It offers quite a few activities for children and presents history in an accessible way for older visitors. The guided tour was also interesting, although it was a bit too advanced for Chiara. Appr. two weeks ago we went alpine skiing in Sexten/Sesto, a village appr. half an hour from Toblach (and also the place for the start of 3 Zinnen Ski Marathon). Usually we go to Cortina to ski, but this time they have done so many changes there due to the Olympic Games wo we decided to try another place. We had a great time here too, and Chiara really enjoyed it and was happy skiing all day, with just a short stop for lunch. Although we only ski once a year, I think she is very good at it, even though we still use the backpack with leashes in more difficult slopes as safety. Although this place was good too, Marcus and I still prefer Cortina, mostly for the environment – there the views and nature is just amazing.
Throwback to a cozy day when we visited Kastelholm Castle and the open air museum Jan Karlsgården, a trip that has become a tradition after having done it also both last year and two years ago. Chiara really like visiting the castle, and do the treasure hunt, and even though we think it is quite unnecessary to visit to castle each year, we still think it is nice that she likes it. Unfortunately, the visit wasn't a hit this year, since we were met by the information that the treasure hunt unfortunately wasn't available since the "pieces" were on repair, and that instead children could do some paintings in the castle. To be honest, I think it's really bad that things like this aren’t taken care of before the tourist season starts — that there's simply not more foresight. Despite the mishit with the treasure hunt, we still had a nice time, we enjoyed the nice weather, read books, did some drawings and ending the visit with lunch in the boat.
Last Sunday Chiara's grandparents invited Chiara to Madicken at Bentes in Eckerö. Two and three years ago we were also there, but then it was Pippi Longstocking. Since also Marcus and I think it has been very nice to go Bentes for theatre, we decided to join (and at the same time we got a nice training session, when we took the bikes to Eckerö). The theatre was very good, but I think that it suited a bit older children better, because sometimes the play contained a language that was a bit difficult to understand for younger children, and sometimes the play was also quite profound. But altogether it was very nice doing something all together. We were also very lucky with the weather, sun, and not too warm and not too cold.
A couple of weeks ago it was time for the yearly walk on Nåtö. Always very nice and very beautiful.
