A cross country-skiing parody Toblach-Cortina has always been my favorite race, since it is our home track and also a track that suits me perfectly, especially the track for skating. A long ongoing light uphill and then an ongoing long light downhill of altogether 32 km. Although it is my favorite race, I have only been able to go it once, in classic 2018, the other times I have had back problems, the race has been canceled and last year it thought that it was a bit too close after my pregnancy. This year the race has been about covid-19, be able/not being able to come down to Italy, new rules because of the covid-19, a track change because of the risk of avalanches, changed starting times for the race (the last one 15 minutes before the start), and a track that, due to the classical races for the elite skiers just before, wasn’t groomed at all. It is really hard to really say if it was a good race or not, but at least it was though on my body. I think that I double-poled appr. half the race, and skate half the race. Since the recreational classical skiers started just 10 minutes after the skaters there were one or two classical tracks that you could use that still were quite good, but the skating part was a mix of 5 centimeter snow, the marks of the snow mobiles and lot of deep marks of the skaters before. I had prepared for the original course and have done almost no double-poling, and of course not that much skating in unprepared tracks with 5 centimeters snow either :) I had an average heart rate of 172 and a maximum of 180 and that was a bit too low, but I really found it hard to go and push any faster, since the tracks were so bad. I thought that my body hasn’t felt that good the days before, but I still think it was okay during the race, so that was at least very nice. To sum the race up I can use the words of one of the best skaters in the race: it was the worst skating race ever, no tracks. But even though the conditions were really bad, it was still very nice to compete, and it is always lovely to be skiing in this environment. + Very good help of Marcus with liquid + The body felt quite good, was a bit worried about that before start + I was happy with my skis - Should have been training more “not so specific” to be better prepared for another course - Need be better at the downhills, unnecessary to lose time on them En längdskidåknings-parodi
+ Mycket bra hjälp av Marcus med vätskelangning + Kroppen kändes rätt bra, var lite orolig för det innan start + Jag var nöjd med mina skidor - Borde ha tränat mer "inte så specifikt" för att vara bättre förberedd för en annan bansträckning - Behöver bli bättre i nedförsbackarna, onödigt att förlora tid där October, a month that started in Toblach filled with great hikings, a run to Cortina and many more training sessions, lovely views and some real winter, and then ended on Åland with Chiara's first birthday and a very nice weather. November started with many days with lovely weather, in the middle of the month we had a birthday part for Chiara, and in the end of the month the cross country-skiing season on TV began and the Christmas preparations started:) December: a month with Christmas feeling, playing with gifts from the Advent calendar:), training, celebrating Christmas and New Year with family, an ice cold dip in the sea:), finally some snow, one cross country-skiing session and some very relaxed days New Year
In July we celebrated our ninth wedding day, enjoyed the weather that was good lots of days and spent some days in the archipelago among other things. This summer we finally:) realized that there are good swimming opportunities around us, and if you visit them early in the morning after the training or in the evening you're almost alone. In August we also spent some days at sea and visited the new restaurant on Föglö, Carlsro Badhotell. September was a month that contain a lot of a lot of things: training, everyday life, summer, winter, trip down to Toblach, different countries, hiking, running, rollerskiing, swimming etc.
April and May were a lot about enjoying nature, spending time together and lots of training. June came with a lovely summer weather and we enjoyed many days at sea, we did many training sessions and we celebrated a beautiful midsummer.
A summary in four parts of a very special 2020 Th year of 2020 and January began with a trip to Orsa for some cross country-skiing and Marcus competed in Orsa Skimarathon. This was also the first time for Chiara in the chariot, a success directly. A couple of days at home on Åland ... before we went off to Toblach ... FEBRUARY February started with the race Toblach-Cortina and Marcus and Chiara's godfather were ready as well as the supporters:). Otherwise February were a lot about being outside, skiing and we also spent a day in Anterselva/Antholz watching the Biathlon World Championship. March was the month when the term corona or covid-19 got on everyone's lips and also started to affect us a lot, but the month started in a great way with my first race and also some beautiful winter days. And all of a sudden in the middle of March we had to leave Dobbiaco/Toblach because of covid-19. Back on Åland it was a lot about being quarantined and training
Morning run in maybe the most beautiful valley: Val Fiscalina/Fischleintal. It was an epic run in lovely sunshine, and so beautiful with the red rowanberries, the white snow up in the mountains and the golden larch trees .
