Boat trip onboard one of the beautiful taxi boats

Ever since the first time Marcus and I visited Venice, Marcus has always mentioned that he really thinks that the wooden taxi boats are so nice, (and that he think it would be a great job to be taxi driver in Venice:)) And I agree, they are so beautiful. Since Dobbiaco/Toblach is so close to Venice, it is very easy for us to visit the place, and therefore I thought that the perfect gift for Marcus's 40th birthday would be a boat trip on Venice's canals ending with a dinner at a nice restaurant. But last year when Marcus turned 40, unfortunately the coronavirus pandemic had Italy (and the rest of the world) in an iron grip, and a trip to Venice (from Dobbiaco/Toblach) was almost impossible. Therefore I kept this idea to myself and decided to give this gift when we would go to Venice next time, which happened to be this spring. The owner of the B&B we stayed at helped me, and I got the number to one of his friends that has a taxi boat. We agreed that he would pick us up at our place, take us on a one hour trip on the canals and lagoon and then drop us off at a restaurant. It turned out to be a very nice trip, we really had the weather on our side, and it was so nice when he drove on the smaller canals where the vaporettos aren't able to go. If we would do it again, we would skip the Grand Canal part (since that is the canal the vaporettos mostly use) and just ask the driver to drive on the smaller canals, that is really such a special experience. The evening ended on one of our favorite restaurants in Venice, Osteria da Alberto.

Vi bestämde att han skulle hämta upp oss där vi bodde, ta oss med på en 1 timmes tur på kanalerna och lagunen och sedan släppa av oss vid en restaurang. Det visade sig bli en väldigt fin tur, vi hade verkligen vädret på vår sida, och det var så häftigt när han körde på de mindre kanalerna där vaporetto-färjorna inte kan köra. Om vi ​​skulle göra det igen, skulle vi hoppa över att åka på Canal Grande (eftersom det är den kanal vaporetto-färjorna nästan alltid använder) och bara be föraren att köra på de mindre kanalerna, det är verkligen en speciell upplevelse. Kvällen avslutade på en av våra favoritrestauranger i Venedig, Osteria da Alberto.
