Race report: Dolomitenlauf 20k classic and EasyRace 4k

At the same time Marcus competed, the Easy Race 4k was also taking place. We had planned it very carefully, so that I and Chiara would have time to stand with poles for Marcus just after he had started and the run back to the start to be in time for Chiara's race that started 5 minutes after.

Unfortunately, all the skiers in the 4k category had moved forward after the participants in the 20 and 40k had started and since the starter shot off the starting gun almost directly after the 20k and 40k classes, I hadn't time to move Chiara's skis forward and we missed the start and got away some time after the others.

​In itself it wasn’t a big deal, but Chiara became a bit upset because of the stress and because everyone else had already managed to leave. This also meant that she really didn't have anyone to "race a bit against". Probably the organisation don't think there are mothers there multitasking ;), but anyway, I still think it would be good to stick to the starting times.

However, it was otherwise a very well-organized race, with many people cheering along the course and a very warm welcome at the finish line from both the speaker, the people handing out the medals, and the mascots.

Samtidigt som Marcus tävlade ägde även Easy Race 4K rum. Vi hade planerat allt väldigt noggrant så att Chiara och jag skulle hinna stå med stavar åt Marcus strax efter hans start och sedan springa tillbaka till starten i tid till Chiaras lopp, som började fem minuter senare.

Tyvärr hade alla åkare i 4K-klassen flyttat fram efter att deltagarna i 20- och 40-kilometersloppen hade startat, och eftersom startskottet gick nästan direkt efter dessa lopp hann jag inte flytta fram Chiaras skidor. Därför missade vi starten och kom iväg först en stund efter de andra.

I sig gjorde det ingenting, men Chiara blev lite ledsen över både stressen och att alla andra redan hunnit åka iväg. Det gjorde också att hon egentligen inte hade någon att ”tävla lite mot”. Kanske tänker arrangörerna inte på att det finns mammor där som multitaskar ;) men oavsett tycker jag ändå att det vore bra att de kunde hålla sig till starttiderna.

Dock ett väldigt fint ordnat lopp annars, med många som hejade längs med vägen och ett väldigt fint mottagande på upploppet av både speakern, de som gav medaljen och maskotarna.
