Olympic Games 2026: Cross country-skiing Men's and Women's Sprint Classic

Last Tuesday, we attended the Olympic sprint in cross-country skiing. After experiencing a great deal of stress at the biathlon, we were a bit worried about how things would turn out this time. However, everything went very smoothly, and we arrived at the arena about 1 hour and 15 minutes before the qualification round started. We had time to stroll around a bit and also visit the shop selling official Olympic merchandise.
After the qualification round (with no major surprises), there was about a one-hour break. We took the opportunity to move around a little and buy something to eat and drink. While standing in line for food, we ended up behind Anton Järnberg and Marcus Laggar from Lager 157 Ski Team, and we took the chance to ask whether they knew if Alvar would double-poling or not. Anton said they hoped he would, as it was probably his only chance. (It turned out he didn’t, which was still enough to secure a place in the semifinal.)
After just managing to get our order before the finals began, we unfortunately returned just in time to see Jasmi Joensuu get knocked out in the quarterfinal. Apart from the Finnish women not performing particularly well, the quarterfinals and semifinals were very exciting. It was though a bit sad to see the home favorite Federico Pellegrino gets eliminated in the semifinal in what is his final Olympics and last competitive season.
The women’s final were mostly about the three Swedish skiers and ended with Linn Svahn taking the victory. In the men’s final, it was an absolutely incredible experience to witness Johannes Høsflot Klæbo dominate the way he did — he was truly superior and in a class of his own.
I tisdags var vi på OS sprinten i längdskidåkning. Efter att upplevt en väldig stress till tävlingarna i skidskytte var vi lite oroliga för hur det skulle bli. Den här gången visade sig dock allting gå väldigt smidigt, och vi kom fram till arenan runt 1 h och 15 minuter innan kvalet satte igång. Vi hann med att strosa runt lite och även besöka shopen med officiella OS-produkter.

Efter kvalet (och inga större skrällar) väntade en paus på cirka 1 timme. Vi passade på att röra på oss lite, och köpa lite att äta och dricka. I kön till maten hamnade vi bakom Anton Järnberg och Marcus Laggar från Lager 157, och vi passade på att fråga om de visste om Alvar skulle staka eller inte. Anton sa att de hoppas det och det nog var hans enda chans. (Det visade sig dock att han inte gjorde det, vilket räckte till en plats i semifinalen.)

Efter att precis hunnit få vår beställning innan finalerna satte igång, kom vi tyvärr precis i tid tillbaka för att se Jasmi Joensuu åka ut i kvarten. Bortsett från att finskorna inte gick så bra, var det väldigt intressanta kvarts- och semifinaler. Tråkigt att hemmafavoriten Federico Pellgrino ut i semifinalen i det som är hans sista OS och tävlingsår.

Damfinalen kom mest att handla om de tre svenskorna, och den slutade med att Linn Svahn stod som segrare. I herrfinalen var det en helt otrolig upplevelse att få se Johannes Høsflot Klæbo dominera på det sätt han gjorde, han var verkligen helt överlägsen och i en klass för sig.
